ABOUT the
CAMBERWELL
identity CAMPAIGN

The CAMBERWELL identity.
Bringing people together to create a brighter high street,
more business for local traders, and a Camberwell for everyone to be proud of

The Camberwell Identity is a campaign to connect Denmark Hill station to King's College Hospital, and then up to Camberwell Green and its surrounding areas in the north. The aims were to install raised lamppost banners along Denmark Hill, and lead visitors down the high street to discover the wonderful cafes, shops, green spaces and galleries of Camberwell, and create a sense Camberwell's vibrant and thriving community. You are invited to download and use the branding for your own business if it is based in Camberwell.

SE5 Forum for Camberwell, Camberwell Arts, and The Camberwell Society began a crowdfunding campaign to fund a series of specially designed banners to run from Denmark Hill station and up to Camberwell Green. What started as a campaign to connect Camberwell's streets received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local community, and ultimately the campaign gathered support from a massive 207 backers, including a £6,500 donation from The Mayor of London's office. Total contributions beat the crowdfunding target of £10,000 by August 2019, and the signs were designed, made and finally erected by January 2020.
